Dear colleagues:

Now HuaDe Star Technology Bulletin , a periodical mainly introduces the latest development and achievement of surface engineering technologies in Europe, especially Germany , as well as that in China , meets dear readers.

HuaDe Star Technology Bulletin is jointly compiled by Prof. E. Lugscheider, an international authority of surface engineering technologies, Director of Materials Science Institute of Aachen University of Technology and permanent Chairman of International Thermal Spray Conference and Prof. Xiaoou Huang, a famous expert on surface engineering technologies in China, Director of Surface Engineering Technology Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences and President of the Thermal Spraying Committee of China Surface Engineering Association and it is published and promoted by BEIJING HUADEXING SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD. Provisionally, it is a quarterly publication, containing 32 pages printed in full color with pictures, with some articles having English version. All the materials compiled in the publication are carefully chosen from numerous technical materials by Germany , European and Chinese experts. The articles are short and flexible, explaining the profound technologies in a simple way, and with new and practical surface engineering technologies as main contents, HuaDe Star Technology Bulletin targets experts and managerial personnel in enterprises, scientific research institutes and universities and colleges in China with a view of transferring advanced surface engineering technologies to high efficient productivity that benefits society.

Over the past decade or so, thermal engineering technologies developed rapidly in China . Now China is in the best period of economic development since the founding of Peoples' Republic of China, with GDP increasing by over 8% annually and GDP of the year 2003 reaching CNY11, 700,500 billion. As high-tech and interdisciplinary and edge technologies, surface engineering technologies depend on and are very sensitive to the national economy, especially to the development state and products structure adjustment of the manufacturing industry. The “human-oriented scientific development concept” newly raised by the Central Government including Green GDP guidelines, are also guidelines for the development of thermal engineering technologies. In other words, thermal engineering technologies in China are faced with unprecedented opportunities, especially in iron & steel, energy resources, automobile, papermaking, printing, mechanical processing, electron, anti-corrosion steel structure, textile, military industry and aerospace industry.

Presently, the total production value in the thermal engineering technology industry exceeds USD50 billion worldwide. The thermal engineering technology in China is at lower level than that of developed countries, especially the US , Japan and Europe , in terms of both absolute production value and relative GDP. The former shows that the scale of surface engineering technologies in China is small, with low industrialization, and the latter indicates that the level and “gold content” of Chinese surface engineering technologies are not high. The improvement of absolute production value in the industry in China mainly clings to the expansion of the whole national economy, in particular, the scale enlargement of the manufacturing industry, and the advancement of technical level and “gold content” mainly lies on product structure adjustment and optimization and adjustment within the industry.

Meanwhile the abovementioned problems demonstrate that the surface engineering industry has huge development room and good prospect. Experiences both home and abroad prove that the more developed a country is and the more advanced the manufacturing industry, the more developed the surface engineering technologies are and the better lives surface engineering enterprises live.

“When the river rises, the boat floats high”, history endows us with opportunities, and dear colleges should stage a good performance in the platform.

Besides compiling and publishing HuaDe Star Technology Bulletin , BEIJING HUADEXING SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD. also plans to hold forums on HuaDe Star surface engineering technologies, with a view of exchanging information, comparing view points, meeting friends and boosting cooperation.

BEIJING HUADEXING SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD. hopes to help Germany enterprises enter the Chinese market through introduction of surface engineering technologies from Europe, particularly Germany in the forms of product agent, holding seminars, technological transfer, etc. It also serves the Chinese enterprises in the same ways, opening the Germany markets for the Chinese surface engineering technologies and products.

HUADEXING will gradually develop technical consultation, technology transfer, technical training, project cooperation etc.
